THE PRESCRIPTION

PREVENTIVE REST

48h every 5 days

Standard rotation to maintain good reputation.

CURATIVE REST (SCORE 50-70)

1 to 2 weeks

The number is starting to get reported. Rest is mandatory.

INTENSIVE REST (SCORE 70+)

4 to 8 weeks

Number is burned. Long rest or replacement needed.

Rest protocols

1. 2/5 Rotation

2 days of rest every 5 days of use. The baseline protocol for moderate volumes.

For: Standard B2B, < 40 calls/day

2. 1/1 Rotation

1 day of use, 1 day of rest. For sensitive sectors with high volumes.

For: Insurance, real estate

3. 1/2 Rotation

1 day of use, 2 days of rest. The recommended protocol for high-risk sectors.

For: Energy, CPF, lead gen

4. Rotating pool

Numbers rotate automatically in a pool. Each number rests naturally thanks to rotation.

For: All volumes, all teams

Rest based on usage intensity

IntensityRecommended rest

Intensive

> 50 calls/day

1 day of rest for 1 day of use

Moderate

20-50 calls/day

2 days of rest every 5 days

Light

< 20 calls/day

1 day of rest per week

Why rest works

Report decay

Anti-spam databases weight reports by age. An inactive number sees its score gradually decrease.

Community database forgetting

Apps like Truecaller give more weight to recent reports. Inactivity allows natural cleanup.

Carrier counter reset

Carriers analyze call volume over rolling windows. Rest resets the counters to zero.

The 4 rest mistakes

01

Rest too short

Putting a number back in service after only 2-3 days when its score is > 70 is useless. The score hasn't had time to drop.

02

No check before resumption

Resuming a number without checking its current score risks burning it permanently on the first day.

03

Rest without rotation

Resting a number without having a replacement number paralyzes sales activity.

04

Same volume after rest

Resuming with the same call volume that caused the report guarantees a quick relapse.

Rest vs. Replacement: the math

OPTION A: REST

  • Cost of rest: €0 (number is paused)
  • Duration: 2 to 8 weeks
  • Recovery rate: 80% of numbers
  • = FREE but slow

OPTION B: REPLACEMENT

  • Cost: €2 to €20/month per new number
  • Delay: immediate
  • Risk: the new number may also be recycled
  • = FAST but costly
