How long does a number stay blacklisted?

The clock is ticking for your burned numbers. Autopsy of a telecom prison sentence.

DETECTIVE HUHU

Verdict: The Short Answer

"15 days, 30 days, or change your number."

Score 70-80% (Nuisance): 15 days rest. Score 80-90% (Negative): 30 days. Score 90%+ (Spam/Fraud): the timeline is uncertain, better to change the number.

The Duration Tribunal

Caution (30-70%)

VIGILANCE

Not yet detected as spam, but stay attentive to your practices.

Nuisance (70-80%)

15 DAYS

First flaggings detected. Put the number on pause.

Negative (80-90%)

30 DAYS

Number clearly identified as problematic.

Spam (90%+)

CHANGE

Number burned. The recovery timeline is uncertain.

Why does it take so long?

Database Retention

Databases keep history for months to prevent repeat offenses after a simple pause.

Accumulation

Each new actor that blacklists you adds a layer of difficulty to get out.

Algorithm Memory

AIs memorize your pattern. Even if the number changes, if the pattern stays, the blocking returns.

How to speed up recovery?

What works

  • 01. Immediate total quarantine (0 calls).
  • 02. Proactive declaration to OS vendors.
  • 03. Massive rotation to "fresh" numbers.

What does NOT work

  • 01. Simply lowering volume (the algorithm sees everything).
  • 02. Harassing the carrier's customer support.
  • 03. Waiting without changing your method.

Secure Transition Plan

1

Backups

Archive the number's history before removing it from rotation.

2

Proactive Rotation

Don't wait for blocking. Change DIDs every 15 days.

3

Quarantine

Let the number rest away from all outbound calls.

4

Auto Monitoring

Use HUHU to know exactly when the number "goes green" again.

Investigation Questions

Can you force the removal of a blacklist?
Legally, it's unclear. Technically, it's nearly impossible in the short term without completely changing your numbering methods.
Should I cancel the number right away?
Only if the score is above 90% (Spam/Fraud). For a 70-80% score (Nuisance), 15 days is enough. For 80-90% (Negative), 30 days of rest.
Why do some numbers come back as "Spam" after 2 days?
Because the algorithms recognized you. Not the number. They use metadata like the call IP or the SIP trunk technical identifier.
Can the number become 100% clean like before?
Yes, if the flagging was light to moderate. After a few weeks of rest, the score can return to 0-20. However, the history remains: if you start making many calls again, it will rise faster than the first time.
If I let it rest for a long time, is it guaranteed to work?
No. For a 90%+ score (Spam/Fraud), it's better to change numbers. The recovery timeline is uncertain and there's no guarantee.

Stop wasting your time.
